What exactly it is

Invoicing and tax software for people who run a business in Germany and would rather work in their own language.

What it is

  • Invoices, quotes, clients and expenses for an Einzelunternehmen, Freiberuf, GbR, UG or GmbH.
  • Taxes calculated continuously from what's in your documents.
  • Figures ready to enter in ELSTER, or a DATEV export for your Steuerberater.

What it isn't

  • An accounting firm.
  • A tax adviser. We don't file returns on your behalf.

What changes when you move your business to Finanzigo

Run your business yourself. Bring in an adviser only when you really need one

Finanzigo doesn't pretend to be a tax adviser. It keeps your documents in order, enforces the rules and shows you, as you go, how much tax to set aside, so the German system stops being a black box.

Small business

You can manage without an accountant

One business, straightforward income, perhaps Kleinunternehmer (small-business VAT exemption). The app takes care of the formalities and you keep your numbers under control all year.

  • GoBD-compliant invoices and expenses with receipt scans
  • A running estimate of income tax, Gewerbesteuer and Krankenkasse
  • EÜR and UStVA ready to enter in ELSTER
  • Ready-made letters to the Finanzamt, e.g. lowering prepayments or a Stundung (deferral), with filing instructions

Larger business

You know what you're paying your adviser for

Several Gewerbe, an employee, a company car: at that scale a Steuerberater pays for itself. With Finanzigo they work on your taxes, not on sorting your paperwork.

  • DATEV export and tidy books instead of a bag of receipts
  • A separate read-only account for your adviser
  • Annual planner: check the impact of a decision before you ask about it
  • You understand where every number in your tax return comes from
  • Understand the system instead of just trusting it

Taxes broken down line by line: income tax, Soli, church tax, Gewerbesteuer and VAT, with prepayment dates calculated from your data.

  • No surprises in March

A full-year projection shows how much to set aside for Vorauszahlungen (tax prepayments) and the annual return before the Bescheid (tax assessment) arrives.

  • Costs you don't lose

Record expenses, your Fahrtenbuch (mileage log) and business trips as they happen instead of reconstructing them from memory a year later.

  • Less work for your adviser

Complete, well-organised data means less time spent on paperwork, which usually means a smaller bill.

The figures are a solid basis for planning, not tax advice. When choosing a legal form, optimising your taxes or facing a Finanzamt audit, a Steuerberater is worth having. With Finanzigo you simply need one less often.

Invoicing

Invoices the Finanzamt can't fault

  • § 14 UStG
  • GoBD
  • ZUGFeRD / Factur-X
  • XRechnung 3.0

The number is assigned from a continuous sequence when you issue the invoice, the document is locked, and any correction becomes a Stornorechnung (cancellation invoice) referencing the original. That's what GoBD requires, and it works this way by default, with nothing to set up.

E-invoice format
ZUGFeRD/Factur-X (PDF with embedded XML) and XRechnung for public-sector clients.
Tax clauses
§ 19 UStG, Reverse Charge, intra-EU supplies and exports, chosen by the client's status.
Kleinbetragsrechnung
Up to €250 gross, the document automatically uses the simplified form (§ 33 UStDV).
Design and branding
Your own invoice and email template, colours, logo and sender — under Invoice design / Email templates.

Taxes: full-year projection.

The Finanzamt's bill stops being a surprise

  • § 32a EStG
  • § 35 EStG
  • SolZG
  • UStVA

Every booked invoice and expense goes straight into the calculation. You see income tax, Soli, church tax, Gewerbesteuer and your VAT balance, year to date and projected for the full year.

Quarterly prepayments
Dates and amounts of Vorauszahlungen under § 37 EStG and § 19 GewStG, calculated from the current projection.
Gewerbesteuer
Hebesatz (local multiplier) suggested from your city name, the €24,500 Freibetrag (allowance) and the credit against income tax under § 35 EStG.
Kleinunternehmer
Tracks the § 19 UStG limit and warns you before you cross the threshold during the year.
Reports
EÜR, BWA, SuSa and UStVA, ready to enter in ELSTER or hand to your adviser.

Receivables

Reminders that calculate interest for you

  • § 288 BGB
  • Basiszinssatz
  • Mahngebühr
  • €40 B2B flat fee

Zahlungserinnerung (payment reminder), first and final Mahnung, properly spaced. Late-payment interest based on the Basiszinssatz, a dunning fee and the €40 flat fee for B2B are added in line with § 288 BGB.

Proof of sending
Every document sent is stored unalterably, ready for debt collection.
Card payment

Paperwork

GKV and PKV compared.

Krankenkasse and business registration in one place

  • § 240 SGB V
  • GKV / PKV
  • Gewerbeanmeldung
  • § 34a GewO

The calculator compares the profit-based GKV (statutory) contribution with a monthly PKV (private) premium, taking the Mindestbemessungsgrundlage and Beitragsbemessungsgrenze into account. Plus a document checklist and the registration steps, including for people who have just arrived.

A search of ready-made wording for the Gewerbeanmeldung warns you when an activity needs a permit. You find out before you apply, not after.

Several Gewerbe? One account, one tax picture

  • GewSt per business
  • ESt once, on the total
  • § 35 EStG

Gewerbesteuer is calculated separately for each business, because that's how the Hebesatz works. But you pay Einkommensteuer as a person, on your total profit. Finanzigo keeps both in one place and gives you a combined view.

In typical German accounting software, every business means a separate subscription and a separate login.

Your documents, your data

Finance software should be predictable. Below is what follows from how the app works, not from promises.

Details: Datenschutz, AGB, Impressum.

  • An issued invoice can't be quietly changed

Once issued, an invoice is locked and numbering stays sequential. Corrections are only possible as a Stornorechnung (cancellation invoice) referencing the original, exactly as GoBD requires.

  • Documents kept for 10 years

Invoices and receipt scans are stored unalterably for the full retention period German tax law requires.

  • Your data, always downloadable

Full GoBD/GDPdU and DATEV export at any time, including after the trial and before you cancel. We never hold your data hostage.

  • Client payments go straight to you

Card payments are handled by Stripe and land directly in your Stripe account. Card details never pass through Finanzigo.

  • Passwords and access

Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes. Employees and your bookkeeper get their own accounts with limited permissions, so nobody shares a password.

  • Clear about the limits

Finanzigo calculates taxes from your documents, but it is not a tax adviser. The figures are a reliable estimate for planning; the return is filed by you or your Steuerberater.

Pricing

Prices exclude VAT (19% is added). Every plan starts with a 14-day trial, no card required.

Before you ask

The app enforces the rules for you: numbering, GoBD locks, tax clauses and deadlines. The interface is available in English, German, Polish and Russian; your documents always go out in German. For 14 days you can try it on your own invoices before paying anything.

No. The trial starts right after sign-up, with no card and no automatic switch to a paid plan. We only ask for payment details once you decide to stay.

Nothing disappears. Your account switches to read-only: you can't issue new documents, but you can still download the full GoBD/GDPdU and DATEV export. Your data stays yours, whatever you decide.

Finanzigo doesn't replace your adviser, it shortens their work. Instead of a binder they get a DATEV export, tidy books and their own read-only account. Less sorting usually means a smaller bill, and you understand what you're paying for.

Invoices are numbered sequentially, locked once issued, and corrections go through a Storno referencing the original. ZUGFeRD/Factur-X and XRechnung are supported. It's a compliant tool, not tax advice.

Yes. There's no fixed-term contract and no notice period. You can change plans instantly, cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, and you can download all your data before you go.
